Prism Research does NOT enroll volunteers who live outside of a 100 mile radius of the Twin Cites metro area.  All volunteers must provide photo ID and proof of address before they can be enrolled into a study.

Healthy Male Participants Needed

Research Purpose:  To evaluate the effect of an investigational medication on sperm production.

 Participant Qualifications include: 

  • Healthy Men
  • Ages 18-45
  • Must have a Body Mass Index 27-37
  • Must pass a drug screen.
  • No history of severe allergic reaction to any medication or food.

Length: One 16 night inpatient stay followed by 7 outpatient visits and one 5 night inpatient stay followed by 2 outpatient visits over approximately 200 days for all qualified participants. Based on lab tests some participants will be asked to return for 2 additional outpatient visits and one 4 night inpatient stay over an additional 70 days.  

Compensation: Up to $6600 for main study. Up to $7875 for the main study plus the additional visits and inpatient stay.

Participants with less than Normal Kidney Function Needed

Research Purpose:  To assess the effects of various degrees of kidney function on the blood levels of an investigational medication.

Participant Qualifications include: 

  • Male or female with less than normal kidney function not requiring hemodialysis
  • Ages 18-75
  • Body Mass Index between 19-40 kg/m
  • Negative for HIV and Hepatitis B or C
  • No history of seizures, stroke or migraines
  • No history of drug or alcohol abuse in the past 6 months and must pass a drug and alcohol screen

Length: 5 days total which will consist of your choice of

  • One 48 hour inpatient stay and 3 outpatient visits, or
  • One 72 hour inpatient stay and 1 outpatient visit

Compensation: Up to $750

Research Purpose:  To assess the effects of various degrees of kidney function, including hemodialysis, on the elimination of a single does of an investigational medication.

 Participant Qualifications include: 

  • Male or female with less than normal kidney function
  • Ages 18-79
  • Body Mass Index between 18-40 kg/m
  • Negative for HIV and Hepatitis B or C
  • No history of stroke or heart attack in the past 6 months
  • No history of drug or alcohol abuse in the past year and must pass a drug and alcohol screen
  • No history of severe allergic reaction to any medication or food.

 Length: One 96 hour inpatient stay.

 Compensation: Up to $950

Healthy Senior Participants Needed

Research Purpose:  To evaluate an investigational patch-deliver system developed for the administration of the migraine medication Sumatriptan (Imitrex )

 Participant Qualifications include: 

  • Men and Women
  • Aged 65 or older
  • Body Mass Index (BMI) or 18-25
  • Has not used any tobacco products in the past 6 months
  • Has negative drug testing

Participants ages 65+: 36 hour inpatient stay followed by up to 3 outpatient visits.

Compensation:  up to $750


U of M

Healthy Participants Needed

Research Purpose: The purpose of this study/screening visit is to collect baseline information from healthy adults to study genetic traits on how people respond to drugs, the ability of the body to break down and transport drugs, and their potential to experience an interaction between drugs. The information obtained in the study/screening visit may be used to identify you for possible participation in future studies at Prism Research and/or the University of Minnesota.
 
Participant Qualifications

  • Healthy Men and Women
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

 Length: One outpatient visit lasting approximately 20 minutes. 
 
Compensation for Participation Time: Up to $20.00

Volunteers of Chinese Descent Needed

Research Purpose: The purpose of this study/screening visit is to identify and obtain baseline information from people of Chinese descent with a genetic trait for the cytochrome P450 enzyme CYP2C19.  This enzyme can affect how drugs are eliminated from the body.  The information obtained in the study/screening visit may be used to identify you for possible participation in future studies at Prism Research. 
Volunteer Qualifications

  • Men and Women with at least one parent of direct Chinese descent. 
  • Ages 18-65
  • Must speak English

Length: One 1-hour outpatient visit that will include a review of your medical history, medications, brief physical examination and a blood sample. 
Compensation: Up to $25

Type 2 Diabetics
Prism Research has several upcoming studies looking for type 2 diabetics that do not us insulin, however, if you are a diabetic using insulin we will have future studies and would be happy to add you to the database and discuss study participation. If you are a type 2 diabetic not using insulin.
