Prism Research does NOT enroll volunteers who live outside of a 100 mile radius of the Twin Cites metro area.  All volunteers must provide photo ID and proof of address before they can be enrolled into a study.

Study

Description/Volunteer Qualifications

Research Purpose:  To evaluate an investigational oral medication being developed for the treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis and other chronic inflammatory conditions
Volunteer Qualifications
:
  • Healthy Men and Women
  • Ages 18-55
  • Body Mass Index 18-32
  • Not taking any medications on a regular basis
  • Women can not be using an hormonal contraceptives
  • No tobacco use during the study and can not have used more than the equivalent of 5 cigarettes a week in the 2 months prior to the start of the study
    Length
    : Approximately a six week study requiring two 72 hour inpatient stays and 7 brief outpatient visits. Multiple start dates in September.
    Compensation for travel and participation time:
    up to $1700

    Research Purpose:  To evaluate an investigational medication being developed for the treatment of Shingles.
    Volunteer Qualifications
    :
  • Men and Women greater than or equal to 65 years old
  • No history of stroke or heart attack
  • Must weigh at least 110 pounds and have a Body Mass Index 19-30
  • Must not be lactose intolerance
    Length
    : One 36 hour inpatient stay and four follow-up visits.  Starting on 9/18/08
    Compensation:
    up to $750.00

  • 814

    Research Purpose:  To assess the elimination of an oral investigational medication for the treatment of M.S. when taken alone or co-administered with an FDA approved injectible medication for the treatment of M.S. in healthy volunteers.
    Volunteer Qualifications
    :
  • Healthy Men and Women
  • Ages 18-60
  • Must weigh at least 110 pounds and have a Body Mass Index 19-30
  • Not taking any prescription medications (including birth control) or over-the-counter medications on a regular basis
  • Can not have a family history of Multiple Sclerosis in a first-degree relative
  • Non-tobacco user for at 6 months prior to study start.
  • No history of psychiatric treatment
  • No history of drug or alcohol abuse and must pass a drug screen
  • No history of severe allergic reaction to any medication or food
    Length
    : Two 96 hour inpatient stays and 4 brief outpatient visits.
    Compensation:
    up to $2200.00

    Research Purpose:  To evaluate an investigational medication being developed for the treatment of Shingles when administered as a multiple dose to healthy volunteers.
    Volunteer Qualifications
    :
  • Men and Women
  • Ages 18-55
  • Must weigh at least 110 pounds and have a Body Mass Index: 19-31
  • Not taking any medications
  • Women can not be using an oral contraceptive
  • Must not be lactose intolerant
    Length
    : Approximately a 3 week study requiring two 36 hour inpatient stays and 8 outpatient visits. Next start date on 10/3/08
    Compensation:
    up to $1550.00

    Research Purpose:  To evaluate the safety and tolerability of investigational immunosuppressive medication.
    Volunteer Qualifications

  • Men and Women
  • Ages 18-55
  • Must have Body Mass Index 18-32
  • Not taking any medications
  • No tobacco use in past 3 months
  • Women must be post-menopausal for two years or provide documentation of surgical sterilization
    Length
    : Approximately a 4 day study requiring one 96 hour inpatient stay.
    Multiple start dates in August and September.
    Compensation: up to $950

    Research Purpose:  to evaluate an investigational anti-inflammatory and analgesic medication when given to volunteers with impaired kidney function in comparison to volunteers with normal kidney function.
    Volunteer Qualifications
  • Men and Women
  • Ages 18-75
  • Must have mildly or moderately impaired kidney function
    Length: Approximately a 3 week study requiring one 8 1/2 day inpatient stay and one follow-up phone call.
    Compensation: up to $3200
