    Charles E. Halstenson, Pharm. D., CEO, Prism Research 

    Chuck Halstenson is a research and healthcare executive with over twenty-five years of diverse management and entrepreneurial experience including clinical research and multi-site healthcare systems. Chuck received his Pharm. D. degree from the University of Minnesota. He co-directed operations for a phase I unit for over seventeen years. Chuck is a Clinical Professor, Department of Pharmacy Practice at the College of Pharmacy, University of Minnesota. Chuck has presented 109 scientific abstracts at pharmacy related scientific meetings, wrote 7 book chapters and published 85 articles in peer-reviewed scientific literature. Chuck is a Fellow of Clinical Pharmacology and a Fellow, American College of Clinical Pharmacy.

    Jeffrey D. Cosgrove, President, Prism Research
    Jeff Cosgrove is a research executive with over 19 years of experience in operational management of clinical research for the pharmaceutical industry. Jeff's previous experience includes creating and managing recruitment for a phase I organization and directing operations for phase I trials. Jeff has been published in industry publications, served as a guest faculty lecturer for the University of Minnesota, Masters in Research Program as well numerous other associations. Jeff has been directly involved in the management of over 650 phase I research protocols since 1990.

     
 
PRINCIPLE INVESTIGATORS

 
    Mark A Matson MD, Investigator, Prism Research

    Dr. Mark Matson joined Prism Research as an investigator in 2007.  He earned his BA in Biochemistry, Molecular and Cell biology from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL.  He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Medical School.  His post-graduate training consists of an Internal Medicine Residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin and a Nephrology Fellowship at Hennepin County Medical Center/ University of Minnesota.  He began to work as in investigator in a Phase I drug studies unit in 1990.  He has published numerous articles in medical journals and textbooks including a chapter on Drug Induced Renal Disease in Pharmacotherapy.  During his years of clinical practice he has served in many management and leadership roles on the medical staffs of hospitals and practice groups and has been part of the clinical faculty of residency training programs.  He is certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine and as a Specialist in Clinical Hypertension by the American Society of Hypertension.

    Shannon Marie Canas, MD, Investigator Prism Research

    • 5 years of primary care, Internal medicine experience managing complex adult and geriatric patients

    Glenda Morris NP, Sub-Investigator, Prism Research

    • B. A. in Nursing, College of St. Scholastica
    • Master of Arts Degree- Nursing, Adult Nurse practitioner, College of St. Catherine, St. Paul, MN
    • 20 years of experience as Adult Nurse Practitioner in cardiology practice.  Three years of sub-investigator experience in clinical research
     
 
PROJECT MANAGEMENT

 
 
    Denise M. Cosgrove, MLT, AD, Quality Assurance Director: Denise Cosgrove is a research professional with over 10 years experience in the conduction of Phase I-IV clinical trials.  Denise’s experience includes over 8 years as a manager of laboratory processing for a phase I center. Denise also has coordinated Phase I-IV trials for a major central laboratory. Her responsibilities included management of all laboratory related functions, including but not limited to creating source documents related to trial specific laboratory procedures, monitoring and scheduling of all quality control processes necessary to maintain equipment. She has also established formal policy and procedures and training of staff to ensure the accuracy of specimen handling and shipping is met for clients. Denise is an expert in food-intake, obesity design trials.

    Cindy F. Flaten, Study Coordinator, Prism Research
    Lucinda “Cindy” Flaten has actively participated in over 100 Phase I multi-specialty trials. She has served as study coordinator for Phase I, end stage renal disease and diabetes trials as well as healthy senior and healthy volunteer protocols. Cindy’s 15 years of clinical experience with dialysis subjects provides sponsors critical feedback with renal disease trials. Her extensive experience with clinical, laboratory and recruitment procedures related to Phase I designs can offer clients an excellent reference and study coordination of complex Phase I trials.

    Joshua J. Popp, CCRC, Study Coordinator, Prism Research

    Kharen A. Serra, IATA certified, Laboratory Manager, Prism Research
    Kharen has over 5 years of laboratory experience, including 2 years as a research laboratory assistant conducting Phase I-IV clinical trials.  Her experience includes the creation of instructional documentation to assist in protocol specific procedures and the performance of all necessary laboratory procedures as well as maintaining all necessary equipment and the training of clinical staff.  Kharen also has 3 years undergraduate course work in biology at the University of Minnesota and 3 years of dietary experience in a convalescent setting.

    Kevin D. Fitzgerald, Recruitment, Prism Research
    Kevin Fitzgerald has managed recruitment strategies and processes for over 150 Phase I special population trials. Kevin’s twelve years of recruiting phase I experience and understanding of complex protocols has enabled him to implement effective enrollment strategies to ensure trial deadlines are met or exceeded.

    William – Haessly, Recruitment, Prism Research

    Holly Epperly, Pharm.D.

    Holly joined Prism Research in July of 2007. She received her doctor of pharmacy degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha and is currently pursuing a PhD in Social and Administrative Pharmacy from the University of Minnesota, College of Pharmacy in Minneapolis. Along with her research experience, Holly is also serving as a teaching assistant with the College of Pharmacy at the University of Minnesota and has worked as a community pharmacist.
